Privacy Policy

Last updated October 14, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information ADU Home List collects when you use our site, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

It covers the ADU Home List marketplace. It does not cover the practices of the independent businesses you contact through the site, which handle your information under their own policies.

1. Information you give us

Account information. Your name, email address, username, password (stored only as a hash), and, for business accounts, your company name and business type. If you sign in with Google we receive your Google account identifier, email address, name, and profile picture URL from Google instead of a password.

Profile information. Any profile photo you upload, and for businesses: logo, cover image, gallery images, brochures and catalogs, tagline and description, phone number, public email address, website and social media links, years established, units built, brands carried, service areas, and your business location (city, state, ZIP).

Listings. Floor plan details you publish — title, specifications, pricing, features, images, videos, and CAD, plan, and render files — together with the listing address, city, state, ZIP, and country.

Inquiries and forms. When you contact a business or us through a form, the name, email address, phone number, company, website, state, ZIP, budget, project timeline, and message you enter.

Messages and reviews. The content of messages and file attachments you send through our in-app messaging, and the ratings, titles, and text of reviews, replies, and reports you submit.

Favorites. The listings and businesses you save, and — if you create a share link for your favorites — the link token that makes that list viewable.

Billing. If you buy a membership or add-on, your subscription and transaction records and a Stripe customer reference. We never receive or store your full card number — card details go directly to Stripe.

2. Information collected automatically

Server and security logs. Our servers and content management system record requests, including IP address, browser and device information, pages viewed, dates and times, sign-in events, and errors. These logs support security, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting.

Cookies and local storage. We use a small number of essential cookies and store some interface preferences in your browser. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies, and there are no third-party tracking pixels or tag managers on the site. See the Cookie Notice for the full list.

Approximate location from your IP address. To show nearby results before you have entered a location, we may send your IP address to a third-party lookup service (ip-api.com) to obtain an approximate ZIP code. We use only the coarse result and do not collect precise GPS location.

Presence and read state. If you use messaging, we record when you were last active and which conversations you have read, so the other participant can see online status and unread counts.

Video views. We set a random identifier in a cookie so a single visitor is not counted repeatedly in a video's view total. It is not linked to your identity.

3. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Create and administer your account and authenticate you, including through Google sign-in.
  • Publish the listings, business profiles, reviews, articles, and videos you choose to submit, and show them in search, directory, and map results.
  • Convert the addresses you submit for listings and business locations into map coordinates so they can appear in location-based search and on maps.
  • Deliver your inquiries and messages to the business or person you are contacting, and notify them and you about replies.
  • Process payments, manage memberships and capacity limits, and keep billing records.
  • Send transactional email such as password resets, verification, billing notices, and service announcements.
  • Moderate content, investigate reports, prevent spam, fraud, and abuse, and enforce our Terms of Service.
  • Maintain, secure, debug, and improve the site.
  • Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

4. What is visible to others

Some information is public by design. Please think about this before you submit it:

  • Business profiles and listings are public, including the business name, description, images, published contact details, service areas, location, and map placement.
  • Reviews, review replies, article posts, and video comments are public, along with the display name and profile picture shown with them.
  • Business brochures are published publicly on business profiles.
  • A favorites share link is viewable by anyone who has the link. Anyone you send it to can forward it. You can stop sharing by regenerating or disabling the link.

Other information is restricted. Private listing files — CAD, plan sets, and renders — are served only through an authorization check that confirms you may access them. Messages and attachments are visible to the participants in that conversation. Your email address, password, and billing records are not published.

5. Who we share information with

Businesses you contact. When you submit an inquiry or send a message, we pass the details you entered to that business so it can respond. It then handles your information under its own privacy practices.

Business transfers. If ADU Home List is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will give notice if it would become subject to a materially different privacy policy.

6. How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and for as long as we need it for the purposes above.

After an account is closed we delete or de-identify personal information, except where we need to keep it to comply with legal, tax, or accounting obligations, to resolve disputes, to enforce our agreements, or where it is retained in routine backups for a limited period. Reviews and other public contributions may remain visible in anonymized form.

7. Security

We use safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we hold: passwords are stored only as hashes, session cookies are set as HttpOnly and — over HTTPS — Secure, uploads are checked before being accepted, and private listing files are served only after an authorization check.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Use a strong, unique password and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

8. Your choices and rights

Access and correction. You can view and edit most of your information from your account settings, business profile, and listing pages.

Deletion. You can delete individual listings, reviews, and uploads. To close your account and request deletion of your personal information, email support@aduhomelist.com.

Email. You can unsubscribe from non-essential email at any time. We will still send transactional messages needed to operate your account, such as password resets and billing notices.

Cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; blocking the session cookie will prevent you from signing in. See the Cookie Notice.

Regional rights. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights — such as to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to opt out of its sale or sharing (we do neither), or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact us at support@aduhomelist.com. We will verify your request, respond within the time the applicable law allows, and will not discriminate against you for making one.

9. Children's privacy

The site is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Where information is processed

ADU Home List operates in the United States and our service providers may process information there or in other countries. If you use the site from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection law may differ from the law where you live.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the site and our practices change. We will revise the “Last updated” date above, and for material changes we will give reasonable notice by email or a notice on the site.
